The final countdown to New Belgium’s Tour de Fat is on! Tour de Fat will be rolling its way into Durham on Saturday June 21st in Diamond View Park in the American Tobacco Campus! You will not want to miss this unbelievable event! Grab your friends and family, your bike, throw on a fun costume (optional but always more fun) and head on down! Last year’s bike parade boasted close to a 1000 riders and we would love to have three times that show up this year to make it our biggest and best yet! Following the bike parade is a bemusement festival – there will be skits, games, music, local food vendors, great beer selections and really just a good time to be outside catching up with friends. All proceeds from the days event stay here in the Triangle and benefit 3 local charities – Triangle Spokes Group, Durham Co-Op, and the North Carolina Transportation Alliance. Here are some pictures from our previous TDF events:
Triangle Spokes Group is responsible for leading the charge on the BIKE PARADE!! This year you have the ability to sign up ahead of time online to let us know you are coming! And to reserve special Tour de Fat Swag! As always the bike parade and event is free, however your generous (optional $5 or more ) donation all goes to Triangle Spokes Group which helps us put more children on shiny new bikes here in the Triangle! $70 covers the cost of a new bicycle and helmet for a child. Tour de Fat swag can also be purchased for additional donations at the door while supplies last – there is always limited quantities – so get there early! The bike parade starts at 11am with registration beginning at 10am.
Here is video of last year’s bike parade to get you excited for this year’s! Let’s make it even bigger –
