Thank you to each and every one of the 1,000 bike riders that came and Pedaled Joy through Durham for New Belgium’s Tour de Fat Costumed Bike Parade! What a great morning for a bike ride and even better to top it off with a 3,000 friends for a festival in Diamond View Park at the American Tobacco Campus afterward. Over $20,000 was raised for local Triangle non-profits and Triangle Spokes Group received $3850 which is 55 bikes for area children!
Tour de Fat can best be described as celebrating the fun side of bicycle culture. Each festival is kicked off with a costumed bicycle parade through city streets. After the parade, it is time to hit the park and rock out with eclectic entertainment, New Belgium beer, bike themed activities, local food and more!
Here are some pictures from this festive fun filled day:

This year after hitting 12 cities around the country – $535,925 raised for local non-profits, 97,500 festival attendees and 57,359 bike parade attendees! An impressive collaborative effort of communities coming together to do good and have fun at the same time!
